Kirkland Museum’s First Annual Gathering for the Design Community
AIGA CO is pleased to invite its members to connect with the Denver design community at the Kirkland Museum for champagne, tapas and conversation on Wednesday, December 9, 2009. Enjoy one of the country’s foremost collections of modern design while viewing Streams of Modernism, an exhibition of furniture and objects from the Kirkland’s permanent collection. Meet the exhibition’s distinguished curators, Michael and Katherine McCoy, and Museum Director and Curator Hugh Grant.
Guest hosts Lauren Alesso, Darrin Alfred, Kirk Brown, Brad Fentress, Lisa Henry,
David Klein, Taisto Makela, Susan Saarinen and Jill Wiltse will join us to discuss their favorite pieces.

Parking is available in the museum’s lot on the SW corner of 13th and Pearl, and at the Credit Union of Colorado lot at 14th and Pennsylvania.
Streams of Modernism, an exhibition of furniture and objects from the museum’s permanent collection, illustrates the flow of influence among modern design pioneers from Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Frank Lloyd Wright through Bauhaus masters, Cranbrook colleagues, and Italian designers of the 1950s-70s. Guest curators Michael and Katherine McCoy are the first recipients of the Smithsonian’s Design Minds National Design Award and former Design Directors of Cranbrook Academy of Art, and were faculty at “The New Bauhaus,” IIT’s Institute of Design in Chicago.
